The Story of the Blind Men and the Elephant
“It’s a Fan! It’s a Spear! It’s a Snake! It’s a Tree! It’s a Wall! It’s a Rope!”

“It’s a Fan! It’s a Spear! It’s a Snake! It’s a Tree! It’s a Wall! It’s a Rope!”
We all see the world differently, and that’s the beauty of perspective.
In the famous parable of The Blind Men and the Elephant, each person touches a different part of the elephant and comes to their own conclusion about what it is. One feels the tail and thinks it’s a rope, another touches the leg and believes it’s a tree, and so on.
None of them are wrong—they’re just experiencing a small part of a much bigger truth.
As human beings, we’re wired to make sense of the world based on what we perceive. In that process, we often delete, distort, or generalize information to fit our understanding.
The result? Our own version of “truth.”
So the next time you find yourself in a disagreement or facing a challenge, ask yourself:
“What am I missing? What might I be distorting or generalizing here?”
This simple shift can lead to greater understanding, appreciation, and even unexpected learning. Because sometimes, the “elephant” is far more than any one of us can see alone.
